24. Reflecting on being DIVINE

Hello! Welcome to this sacred space … to this quiet moment …

to our reflective, meditative time together!

I’m Bill Bauman, and I’m deeply honored

to invite us to reflect together now on …

… being DIVINE!

Yes, we’re here together to open ourselves to our beautiful divine nature.

Right up front, I am inviting you to let go of any personal,

historical or philosophical concepts of divinity, deity or God.

Instead, I ask you to embrace the spirit of divinity rather than its letter,

open to its essence instead of its historical descriptions.

In short, allow your heart to lead you in these sacred moments ahead

rather than following the lead of your very bright mind. Thank you!

Roughly 3,500 years ago, a radical, game-changing proclamation took form.

It made its dramatic appearance in the Hebrew scripture’s Book of Genesis.

Repeating itself several times, as if to emphasize its vital importance,

this innovative announcement asserted that

we human beings “are created in the image and likeness of God!”

If I may interpret this daring declaration in relatable terms,

it means that divinity is intricately woven into the fabric of our human-ness …

that godliness is an intimate part of our human make-up …

that you and I have a divine light, divine love and divine power

running through our veins, present in our bones,

alive in our consciousness and vibrating through our human energies.

This innovative announcement has been more recently expressed

in the wise words of the noted Mexican shaman, Don Miguel Ruiz:

“We are all gods pretending that we are not gods.”

A more colloquial, perhaps humorous, version

has recently defined each of us humans as “God in a bottle!”

You and I are here today to bathe in this divinity, our divinity,

not primarily as it exists ‘out there,’ but right here in our very own identity,

because that very divinity is dynamically alive and well within us!

Have you ever thought of yourself as God? Or, as God-like?

Or, as God walking on earth in human clothes?

Whatever your answer, the deeper truth about you and me

is that we are human expressions, reflections and manifestations of divinity.

God-ness is built into our essence, our soul, our human everything!

What do you suppose it means that you are divine …

that the human version of you is inseparable from your divine nature …

that you are so one with divinity itself that you exude divinity

every time you think, feel or experience humanly?

Let’s bathe now in your divine nature and reality!

Let’s start our bath in your body! Mentally picture your body now.

Picture it as pure, divine essence experiencing itself as if physical.

Picture your body as divine light experiencing its light as if matter.

Picture your body as divine wisdom flowing through your nervous system.

And picture divine being-ness imagining itself as if energy in motion.

Can you now sense, or experience, your body as divine?

When you’re ready, let’s move over to the bathtub of your mighty soul.

Yes, let’s now bathe in the divine quality of your ever-so-devoted soul!

Your amazing soul: your personal embodiment of pure light,

your inner reservoir of divine wisdom,

your intimate resource of infinite knowing!

Are you noticing that your soul is actually divinity’s “sacred temple” …

divinity’s official residence within you?

Are you seeing your soul as housing your very own divinity …

as a quiet, divine presence that is perhaps pretending

that it’s nothing more than a quiet resource in your back room …

when in reality it’s your innermost creative source and power?

Are you listening, as ‘the divine’ you that is posing as your soul

is speaking to you right now, perhaps reminding you

that you are not just a spiritual being having a human experience,

but that, indeed, even more so,

you are a quantum being, and then a divine being,

hosting a spiritual and human experience?

Finally, let’s bathe anew, this time in your conscious mind—

the very mind that specializes in duality, morality and physicality,

the mind that is so 3-dimensionally focused and oh-so-practical,

the one facet of you that usually forgets that you are divine!

Let’s ask your mind why it forgets, why it barely stops to notice,

that who you really are is the divine source,

that your human nature is the ‘divine you’ pretending to be human,

that your primary nature is not at all that of a disconnected human,

but is a divine, celestial, supernatural and ethereal presence.

Ask your mind if it’s perhaps in the mood to wake up now

to its—indeed, to your—divine nature …

and to allow that divine nature to influence its mental thinking,

to empower its mental focuses and celebrate its inherent divinity—

consciously!

In our final moment together, let’s step back from our recent baths

and just sit quietly in this divine space,

and experience the divinity that lives everywhere within and around us!

Let’s drink in whatever gift our divine nature might want to impart to us.

Let’s open ourselves, not so much to any concept about our divinity,

but to the reality of its powerful presence in us

and of the blessings that always accompany the very fact that

we are divine!

Thank you so much for being divine,

for being divine in a seeming body, with a seeming mind

and with the capacity to be your divine self in this, and any, moment.
